What is JEE ?

 JEE MAINS EXAM

Hi,today we will discuss about JEE exam. The everything about JEE mains whether it is about exam pattern, syllabus or eligibility.

Introduction- JEE exam is conducted by NTA(Nationl Testing Agency).NTA also conducts NEET exam,NET exam and also many more.Earlier JEE was held by CBSE but afterwards NTA started to orgnise this exam.JEE exam is actually two entrances exams like UPSC, in which first you have to qualify the JEE MAINS exam and after qualifying that you have to qualify the JEE Advanced exam to get admission in the IITs(Indian Institute of technology).IITs are considered to be the top enginnering colleges in India.Every +2 non medical student's dream is to get into IITs,to feel like to be  part of the most prestigious institute of India.Of course IITs are the Government colleges. So,the students who gets admission in any IIT have to pay not too much of fees as the private colleges and can have the greatest and top faculty ever.If we talk about the nirf ranking of the IITs then they always rank at the top list among all the enginnering colleges in the India.

Getting into IIT is not an easy job. So,you have to qualify the JEE MAINS exam and then the JEE Advanced exam to get into IIT.

ELIGIBILTY FOR JEE- The student who has taken non medical subjects(physics, chemistry and math in 12 class)and who has qualified 12 standard board exams with minimum percentage of 65% can give the JEE exam. There also some reservation for categories like ST,SC,OBC,EWS.

JEE Syllabus-You have to study NCERT based physics, chemistry and math of 11 and 12 class for the exam. The paper comes from these three subjects. The ratio of the questions coming from classes 12 and 11 in the exam is approx 4:5,it could be 1:1 but most of the time it used to be 4:5(11/12).

JEE MAINS PATTERN- JEE mains exam is a MCQ(Multiple Choice Questions) based paper in which only one answer would be correct for a particular question. The exam consists of 75 questions.25 from physics,25 from chemistry and 25 from Maths. From each subject, out of 25 there would be 20 questions of MCQ type and 5 Questions would be integer type(you have to fill the answer by your own which would be an integer or sometimes decimal may be).
For each correct answer you will get 4 marks and for wrong answer you will get -1.So if you know the answer then only answer the question otherwise leave it.You will get 3 hours to attempt the question paper,if we talk in detail, then for completing the whole paper in time you should spend 2.4 minutes per question. The difficulty of the exam is between Medium and Hard.

SCORE SYSTEM-The NTA releases the score in the form of percentile (not percentage).Percentile is counted for each student on the basis of the number of students appeared in the paricular student's shift ,exam difficulty level in the particular shift and many conditions are considered for calculating the percentile of the students.

FAQ(Frequently asked Questions)

Q 1-What if qualified JEE MAINS but did not qualify JEE Advanced?

ANS-Obviously,you will not get an IIT but you don’t have to be depressed because if you have qualified JEE MAINS then you can also get admission in NITs ,IITs and also some other good engineering colleges. Some of the NITs are also better than some NITs like NIT Trichy which is better than IIT Jammu and also NITs and IIITs have great reputation but yes you don’t have to qualify the JEE MAINS but also have to score top percentile in JEE MAINS for getting best NITs.

Q 2-What percentile is to be scored for getting top NITs or IITs?

ANS-96+ percentile is safe for general and these percentile cut off goes down for reserved categories. If you want CS Branch in top NITs then 98+ percentileis good for general category.
